Home Planet Travels
2004 took travel cinematographer Tom and the crew to some very exciting and exotic locations... with two Sony HDW F-900's of course! In May, Tom and Hilary went to Greece for Discovery Travel Channel's "Ultimate Greece." In the fall, Steve and Hilary joined Tom and a jib crew for shoots in Brazil - Candomble, Capoeira, Amazonia, Rio; Thailand - Phuket Vegetarian Festival, Miss International Queen Pageant; Nepal - Kumari, Kathmandu; India - Taj Mahal, Pushkar Camel Fair; Cambodia - Angkor Wat. Now there's an extra 200 hours of High Definition stock footage in the Home Planet library! Take a look at some of the listings on our stock footage page, or contact Tom for more details.
More HD Options
Nicknamed a "PD-170 on steroids," the 1080 line Sony HVR-Z1u is the first "High Definition" prosumer camcorder. This compact, low cost unit captures images at 24p/25p/30p/50i/60i and outputs them via firewire in 1080i HDV, NTSC or PAL. It's native 16:9 chips make the Z1u a great option for a POV or 2nd unit camera that will "upconvert" well to HDCAM and can be mixed into an HD production much the same way PD-170 DV footage is often mixed with Digibeta material.
